How-to: Ruffle Blouse

You can create a variety of apparel with our very popular ruffle fabric, such as this ruffle blouse.

Crafted by Kathleen.

Never heard of ruffle fabric? It is available to order at our online store here.

Supplies

  • 5/8 yd. Ruffle Fabric
  • Sewing Machine
  • Pins
  • Scissors

The amount of fabric depends on the size of the blouse. These instructions are for a medium sized blouse.

  1. Fold the fabric in half, width-wise, selvage to selvage.
  2. With right sides together and taking care not to catch ruffles in seam, measure in 4" from top corners and sew 3" seam at each shoulder.
  3. Clip from shoulder down 12" for sleeve opening on folded side.
  4. Sew curved side seams, leaving lower 5" unsewn for side slits.

Feel free to add embellishments of your choice to enhance the beauty of the ruffle blouse, such as a fabric flower pictured in the photo, which you can learn how to make it here.
